What would you do?

I can just see the pain on this woman's face, I am so sad for her and really ticked off at him.
The Governor of New York and his wife, Silda, have been the "water cooler" talk of our office today. Why is it that when men 'misbehave' (for lack of a better term) they feel the need to parade their wives out? Wouldn't you just once LOVE to hear one of them butt in while their spouse is emotionally asking for forgiveness...."Hell no! You are a pig and I am not going to stand here like a mouse and take it. I am leaving this *bleeping* press conference, packing and taking the kids, you can rot in hell' ; Cause you know, this was not a one shot deal, he just got caught this time.
I can't believe all the emotional and physical damage done through history because of SEX. Over and over there are examples of men (and women) who give up everything, their power, their families, their self-respect for a few moments of pleasure. I don't get it. What would you do?

I personally might stand there, but I would be standing there with some body parts safely tucked away in an envelope. And he would be miserable, absolutely miserable.

yes, this was just so horrible. I can't imagine that poor woman's anger and hurt. Men are really so animal like when it comes to sex. Of course women make mistakes too but as you said, history has shown it is predominately a male issue. So very sad.

thanks for visiting my blog. that was a very sweet story you told. I appreciate it.

I think the bottom line is you don't know what you'd do until it was you. We like to think we'd run out swearing, but in reality, there is a history there with this person. A life built together - children, too. I think the easy way out is running. It's harder to stick around and face the public shame. Poor, poor woman.

Can you say, "Lorena Bobbitt"?

Ok, I agree with you! The only thing I don't agree with you on, is standing there with him (even though you would be hold the envelope). There is NOTHING that could make me stand there next to a man like that!

I really don't understand why these women stand there with their pathetic husbands!!

I am sure he asked her to stand by him, because he needs her or whatever...should've kept it in your pants sucker!

(Wow! I guess I feel really strongly about it! LOL) My heart goes out to her.

I've trained my husband pavlovian style to have some parts tingle when we talk about infidelity. I think it has worked so far.

I'd stand by my dirtbag of a man though.

Hey, great minds! I just think it's sad.

I'd stand by my man too at first, and make the decisions later. Most of those women do get divorced though.

Or maybe they've already got a deal and he will help her run for NY Senate and try for the White House in 2012...

Yes, what is wrong with men???? I feel so sad for her when I see her standing there next to him. I wonder what she is thinking?? So sad that she has to be publicly humiliated and dragged along with it all.
I agree with Christie there is history there and teenage children. I think she is just in so much shock she doesn't know what to do. It will be intersting to see if she sticks it out with the dirt bag.

Urgh. My heart goes out to this woman. Out of duty, I would stand there. But believe me behind closed doors, the story would be much different. I cannot believe the public humiliation she is enduring.

Yes they stood together in the press conference but did you see when they got back home?

She bolted out of the car and stormed in alone.

OK, what would be harder?

Your famous husband tramps around with hoochies OR your famous husband comes out?

Gabi,'as usual, you are the genius. I didn't think of that, but you have a great point!!!

I might not leave him, but I would not stand with him. He'd deserve to face that fire by himself.

Yeah, Gabi did bring up a great point!

I think it was on Paige's blog that I read that the wife shouldn't have to stand by the cheating husband when he resigns from political office...make the, "other woman" stand up there.

I went back and checked...it was Lindsey that quoted a comedian in a comment on Paige's post about this subject. I have to agree...why don't they make the prostitute stand up there?

Lindsey said...

You are all bigger (not literally) women than me! I just don't think I could stand by my man at that moment... this isn't just an affair. It is PAYING A WOMAN for sex. Yuck. I agree it is hard to say WHAT you would do, but I don't think I could stand there and be like: I support him....

So now the prostitute in the mix of it all is getting all famous for it. As is HE. And although I think NONE of us know what we'd really do in a situation like that, I still feel awful for her having to stand and face the scruntiny along with him...

I'd stand by him only if he paid me up front $4300.
